A Day In the Life

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Saturday was an action-packed spectacle!  In an unprecedented display of sartorial splendor, Mike, Jay, Charley and Scotty reunited with Jeff Nagel (Jeff MOO, Jeff MOO!) at his wedding reception.  From the “things you never thought you’d see” file, we bring you some well-dressed Moo men:

Well-suited

Congratulations Jeff!

Jeff had a very groovy band play at his reception: Mifune.  If you haven’t caught their show, we highly recommend a groovy evening out.

After celebrating with Jeff, the guys reverted to their normal gig wardrobe and hooked up with Jeff “The Deuce” Endemann at the Sly Fox in North Olmsted.  It was a good decision to get out of the jacket-and-tie because it was H-O-T at the Fox!

We are thrilled to have had a great crowd for the show.  Rumor has it that much of Jay’s neighborhood came all the way from the Medeezula to see us in action.  Many thanks, Medina denizens!

Buy the merch!

Seriously, the Sly Fox is really a cool bar.  Great staff, cool vibe, and serious sound system (with smoke machine!).  We look forward to returning there on Saturday November 14th.  Hope you can make it, too!

Pics will be posted soon!

Brick House: 1/10/2009

Monday, August 17th, 2009

We at Moo HQ have had a couple weeks off, and during this time to get all Zen and reflect, we discovered some video in the vault from a wintry evening in January of this year.

Without further ado, let us present Skinny Moo”s zestfully entertaining, occasionally profane, multi-song interpretation of “Brick House” by the Commodores.

And yes, Jay did say, “Wellll I”m a brick… house… She likes to bite me, and lettin” it all hang out,” at the end.  Sorry.

A Weekend of Rock

Monday, July 27th, 2009

We had a fun weekend bringing our special blend of musical entertainment to our friends at Rawiga on Friday and the Sly Fox on Saturday.  Highlights included:

  • An impromptu lyrical modification to Sugar Ray’s “Fly”, which resulted in a version we like to call “Pie
  • Our Rawiga steward Reggie (and his trusty assistants) helping out with our gear, keeping us hydrated, sending pizzas, and giving us a star on the Rawiga Pool Deck of Fame
  • Dave and Tyler getting us fantastical stage sound at the Sly Fox
  • Charley trying out his new “gig sunglasses
  • An entire table of Pennsylvanians who will no doubt make the trek to see us again and again

We’ll be getting some pics and such posted in the next few days.  Meanwhile, you can prepare to see us this Friday night at Slim and Chubby’s in Strongsville.  After that we’ll be on vacation for a couple weeks until we return in mid-August.

Check back for updates!

A Little Damp

Before the Rain

We had a fine couple of gigs last weekend, with some added excitement from the weather.

You’ll note that in the picture above we’re performing at the Winking Lizard while mostly enclosed in a plastic tent (much like ‘bubbleboy’, only not as cute).  That was a good thing. And for most of the night we enjoyed cool, breezy summer weather.  At about9:30 or so, though, some ominous clouds started to move in, and a downpour hit suddenly, drenching everything.  It was a little windy, so rain was flying around inside the tent.  POP! A breaker tripped!  So the gig was ended kind of unceremoniously.  Hopefully we’ll enjoy slightly less moisture next time we play at the Bedford Winking Lizard on Friday August 21st.

On Saturday we returned to the Greenville Inn to rock Chagrin Falls.  The place was packed with party action, and we delivered some Moo mojo to keep everybody moving all night long.  Can you guess what happened at the end of the evening as we were about to pack up our gear and load out?

Yes, it rained like a monkeyhumper.  At least we had been inside all night long.  In any case we got pretty damp (again) while packing up our gear.  But nothing that cranking the heater and stopping for 2:30 AM beef jerky couldn’t fix. By the way, a word to the Chagrin Falls BP Station: stock up on Fritos before the next time we’re there, or Charley may have a meltdown – and he’s Scotty’s ride, so we don’t want that.

We’ll be playing a private party on Friday this week, but on Saturday you can catch up with us at the Sly Fox in North Olmsted.  We really enjoy the stage and the sound system there, and we’d love to get some people out to enjoy it with us so come one, come all!  We hope to see you there.

Sly Funk Station

Packed to the Rafters at the WPS

What a weekend: smoke machines, adult beverages, cover tunes, drunk funksters.  We packed a lot of action into just two nights on Friday and Saturday.

Friday night saw our first return to the Sly Fox in North Olmsted since the blazing wintery months early in the year.  As always the sound was spectacular and everyone was having a great time.  This time around, Chazmo even brought an accessory to assist him in dealing with the hard-working smoke machine.

Say Hello to Chazmo’s Little Friend

We won’t mention the band member that had some gear difficulty which led to the historic outburst, “M*therf*cK%R!!”  Suffice it to say that it was highly entertaining and no Moo personnel were harmed in the making of Friday night’s festivities.

And of course there was West Park Station on Friday:

Seemed like lots of folks were warmed up by the solo acoustic stylings of Steve Michaels on Saturday.  Many folks, in fact, demanded their ration of funk, including our friend above. Skinny Moo delivered the funk like junk in the trunk. Of course we also had to drop some rock and pop and assorted other stylee tunes for the ladies (which some of the funksters didn’t seem to understand).

We’ll be posting a few pics soon.

Sly Fox Peeps

Despite the weather on Saturday evening, which dumped at least 10 inches of snow all over the place, we had a great crowd at the Sly Fox in North Olmsted.  Big props go out to our Medina fans who rocked the whole evening after coming up in a limo.  Too cool. Thanks to everyone else that came out, as well as the great staff at the Sly Fox.

We also have to give Jay credit for a great performance only a few days after some, er, surgery.  We shot some video, which we’ll be posting at some point, and Jay’s energy level seems as strong as ever.  We want whatever it is that he’s taking, because the rest of us are pretty well spent at the end of the night:

Here’s hoping the weather’s a little less blustery when we return to Medina this Saturday night!
